Springbank – 1997 Batch No. 2 (54.9%)

This is a Springbank single malt from 1997, Batch No. 2, bottled in May 2008 at 54.9% abv. It is gold in colour. The nose is led by oranges, beeswax, fresh butter and yellow flowers, with white chocolate, mint, apple peel, moss, mushrooms, ginger and porridge behind. The palate is smoky, nutty and roasted, with ginger, lemon and plenty of pepper. It becomes powerful after a few seconds, and with water it turns creamier and oilier, with clove spice and orange. The finish is long and full, with lemon, vanilla, chocolate, ginger and salt.
