Strathdearn is a name used for selected independent Tomatin bottlings, and this one is a Highland single malt from Tomatin Distillery. Murray McDavid finished it in Oloroso sherry hogsheads for its Cask Craft Collection, a series introduced in late 2022 to show the influence of different cask types on Scotch single malts. This is batch #SHRY-01, bottled at 44.5% with no added colouring.
The nose offers juicy apple and rich malt with a gentle sweetness of baking spice. On the palate come creamy caramel and spiced fruit bread, with dark berries, fine nuts and a touch of orange. The long finish brings pronounced cinnamon, praline and a mild, sweet spiciness.
