Strathearn Single Malt (70cl, 50%)

Strathearn Single Malt is the first major release from Strathearn Distillery, a very small producer in the southern Highlands. The spirit is made from Maris Otter malt, which gives a creamy new make. The whisky spent six to eight years maturing in 32 casks: ex-bourbon, virgin oak and ex-sherry. It is bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. The nose offers malt, oak, caramel and apricot. The palate is pleasant, with caramel, spice, dried apricot, nuts and wood. The finish is soft, with both sweet and spicy touches.
