Strathmill – 10 Year Old 2014/2024 Murray McDavid Benchmark Koval Quarter Cask

This Strathmill is a ten-year-old Speyside single malt from a distillery near the River Isla that began as a grain mill. Murray McDavid selected the 2014 distillate for its Benchmark series and finished it in American Koval quarter casks, whose smaller oak casks bring wood and spirit into closer contact. The nose is ripe pear, sweet apple and vanilla, with cloves and allspice. The palate has zesty citrus, barley sugar and grassy notes. The finish brings malt, a gentle bittersweetness, then melon and dry oak.
