A 12 year old Strathmill from Speyside, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2021 by Douglas Laing for its Old Particular range. It comes from a single refill bourbon hogshead, which yielded 314 bottles at 48.4% ABV, without colouring or chill-filtration.
The nose is clean and citric, with a crushed sugar note before maple syrup, spices and cereal grist. On the palate, dry spices come first, then juicy barley and a fudge character. The finish has a mocha backdrop and burnt orange pith, with vanilla arriving later.
