A 25 year old Speyside single malt from Strathmill, distilled in 1988 and matured in refill American oak casks. It was bottled in 2014 at 52.4% as part of Diageo's Special Releases, and it marks Strathmill's first appearance in that series. A total of 2,700 bottles were produced.
The nose opens with ginger biscuits, cream caramel and lemon peel, moving towards lemon ice, orange oil and delicate floral notes. The palate is rich and creamy, with brown sugar, thyme honey and green, earthy tones, plus hints of liquorice, dark chocolate, dried fruit, vanilla and menthol.
The finish is long and dry, with black tea, oak shavings and cloves, ending on resinous, cooling menthol.
