Strathmill – 47 1974/2021 Dram Takers Collection (Gordon & MacPhail) Refill American Hogshead

This Strathmill is a Speyside single malt distilled in 1974 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in June 2021, after 47 years in a refill American hogshead. Just 62 bottles were filled from the cask. It belongs to the Dram Takers Collection, whose presentation is styled after the Book of Kells. The nose offers ripe apricots and peaches with fine vanilla, barley sweetness, leather and old oak. On the palate come ripe pears, lemon and lime, creamy vanilla and spicy oak. The long finish is dry, with almonds, dry tobacco and a touch of lemon.
