Stronachie 10 Year Old is a Highland single malt revived by the independent bottler A.D. Rattray. The original Stronachie distillery was founded in the Highlands in 1890 and closed early in the twentieth century. A.D. Rattray took up the name and recreated the style using whisky from Benrinnes.
It matured for 10 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks and is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is fresh, with honey, apple, pear, peach, vanilla, wild flowers and sweet malt. The palate is creamy, with orchard fruit, honey, light caramel, vanilla and almonds. The finish is medium, with ripe fruit, honey, vanilla and a gentle spiciness.
