Suntory Hakushu 12 Year Old 100th Anniversary Edition (70cl)

This is a 12 year old single malt from Suntory's Hakushu Distillery, released for the 100th anniversary of Suntory Whisky. It is drawn from a selection of malts, all aged for at least 12 years in various casks. The distillery sits on Mt. Kaikomagatake. Peat is used in the whisky, and mountain water filtered through granite softens the palate. The bottle illustration shows the distillery in soft greens, for the forest around it. The colour is a champagne gold. The nose offers green apple, basil and pine needles, and the palate sweet pear, mint and kiwi. The long finish brings green tea, a little smoke and lingering sweetness.
