Suntory Hakushu Distiller's Reserve is a Japanese single malt from the Hakushu distillery, which stands in the foothills of Mount Kaikomagatake in Yamanashi prefecture. It replaces the Hakushu 12 Years.
Whisky from a wide range of the distillery's casks is combined, including whiskies up to 18 years old, and matured in American oak. The result is a gently smoky malt.
The nose is herbal and grassy, with green fruit, mint, cucumber and pine. Mint, cucumber, green fruit and grapefruit lead the palate, with a hint of smoke behind. The finish is light, delicate and refreshing, with subtle smoke.
