Yamazaki 25 Year Old comes from Japan's oldest distillery and is one of the oldest age statements it releases. The whisky has aged for a minimum of 25 years in a combination of sherry, American oak and Japanese mizunara casks.
The nose combines seasoned oak with dried figs and dates, dark chocolate, leather and a touch of incense. On the palate it is velvety, with honeyed sweetness, spiced orange peel and roasted nuts, while the mizunara adds a sandalwood character. The finish is very long, with spices, oak and a gentle smokiness.
