Talisker 10 Year Old is a single malt from the Isle of Skye, bottled at 45.8% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in ex-bourbon barrels for at least ten years, and the distillery draws its water from the nearby Cnoc nan Speireag spring.
The whisky is known for its dimpled bottle and for a smoky, peppery character with a coastal edge.
The nose combines sea air, smoke and salty minerals with honeyed malt, seaweed and a little citrus zest. On the palate, smoke runs alongside sweet barley and black pepper, with orange peel, toffee and an oily texture. The finish is long and warming, with pepper giving way to salted caramel and dried fruit.
