Talisker – 1978 41 Year Old Bodega Series (70cl, 50.7%)

This is a 41 year old single malt from Talisker's Bodega series, distilled in 1978 and bottled at 50.7% in a 70cl bottle. It is described as the oldest whisky released from the Isle of Skye. The whisky was finished in Manzanilla sherry casks from Delgado Zuleta, which add a rich, fruity character to the distillery's coastal style. The nose is salty and spicy, with apple crumble, salted caramel, dried fruits and salty smoke. The palate opens with pepper, wood smoke, fudge, raisins and smouldering driftwood, and the finish brings chilli, peat smoke and caramel.
