A Talisker Distillers Edition from the Isle of Skye, distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2008 at 45.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is a limited edition, double matured: American oak casks for a minimum of ten years, then a finish in Amoroso sherry casks that adds sweetness.
On the nose there are deep sherry notes, raisins, prunes and dark chocolate, with maritime hints, smoke and a touch of leather. The palate is full-bodied, with Talisker pepper and peat smoke alongside figs, toffee and a sweet, almost syrupy sherry note.
The finish is long and warming, salty and smoky, with spicy sherry sweetness.
