Talisker 30 Year Old is a single malt from the Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye, which has been making whisky there since 1830. It is bottled at 49.5% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured for 30 years in American oak casks, and still shows the pepper, sea salt and gentle smoke of the distillery's style.
The nose is layered with orchard fruit, vanilla, honey, seaweed and soft bonfire smoke, with a waxy note. The palate has baked apple, pear, almond, creamy oak, sea salt and delicate peat smoke, with the black pepper note well integrated. The finish is long and warming, with salinity, gentle smoke, white pepper and polished oak.
