Talisker 45 Year Old Glacial Edge is a single malt bottled at 49.8% in a 70cl bottle. It is the oldest Talisker release and the final bottling in the Xpedition Oak series.
The whisky spent 40 years in American oak, then was finished in ice-broken casks that had been exposed to sub-zero temperatures on Canadian glaciers. The treatment increased the surface area of the wood. The release is 2,455 bottles.
The nose is soft smoke, wax, fresh tobacco and sandalwood, with orange, pomelo and strawberry syrup. The palate is rich yet gentle, with medicinal peat, menthol, white pepper, liquorice root, toffee and salt. The finish is very long, with dark wood smoke and warming pepper.
