This is an 8 year old Talisker single malt from the Isle of Skye, issued as a 2020 Special Release in a 70cl bottle.
It is the first Talisker to be finished in pot-still Caribbean rum casks. The rum wood adds a dark, exotic sweetness to the distillery's maritime, peppery character.
The nose combines caramel with sea salt, dry seaweed and warm sand over a smoky barbecue base. The palate is smooth and very rich and sweet, before salt and chilli pepper heat builds towards a smoky, peppery, drying finish.
