This is an 8 year old Talisker single malt from the Isle of Skye, released in 2020 as a Special Release. It is the first Talisker to be finished in pot-still Caribbean rum casks.
The rum casks add a rich, dark sweetness to the distillery's maritime, peppery character.
The nose combines deep caramel with sea salt, dry seaweed and warm sand over a smoky barbecue base. The palate is smooth and very rich and sweet, before the familiar Talisker heat builds with salt and chilli pepper. The finish is smoky, peppery and drying.
