This is an 8 year old single malt from Talisker, bottled at cask strength of 59.4% in a 70cl bottle. It nods to the 1980s Talisker bottlings released at the same age, and it is a close relation of the distillery's 10 year old.
The whisky was matured in deeply charred, first-fill ex-bourbon American oak barrels.
The nose brings black pepper, seaweed, sea spray and thin smoke. On the palate it is medium-bodied, sweet and bready at first, with salty, peppery notes, then pepper jelly, barbecue char, hay and tobacco. The finish is long and dry, with peat smoke sitting in the background. A little water brings out smoked meat notes.
