Talisker Dark Storm is a single malt from the Isle of Skye, released in 2013 as the third addition to the distillery's range, after Port Ruighe and Storm. It is among the peatiest and smokiest whiskies the distillery makes, and is bottled at 45.8%.
It was matured in heavily charred casks of differing ages, and its maritime character is more pronounced than in the original Storm.
The nose is smoky and iodine-led with oak, sea air and light sweetness, plus a touch of char, liquorice and dark berries. The palate brings blackcurrant, liquorice, smoke and salt with Talisker's peppery heat. The finish is warming, dry and medium in length, with a maritime note and soot.
