Tamdhu 12 Year Old is a naturally coloured Speyside single malt, matured in first-fill and refill American and European oak Oloroso sherry casks. Every Tamdhu expression is matured only in Oloroso sherry oak sourced from cooperages and bodegas in Jerez. The distillery was founded in 1897 on the River Spey and revived in 2012 by Ian Macleod Distillers.
The nose has iced cinnamon rolls, orange boiled sweets, sweet oak and raisins, with a hint of mint. The palate is silky, with banana, berry jam, malt biscuit and sherry oak. The finish is long, with ground spice, dried fruit and Scottish tablet, ending in a wisp of peat smoke.
