Tamnavulin Double Cask is a Speyside single malt bottled at 40%. It matured first in American ex-bourbon casks and then received a finish in previously used sherry casks. It was the first release in the distillery's current range, introduced in 2016.
The sherry casks add to the fruit without covering it.
The nose offers warm apple, toffee and honey with marzipan, a slightly tart jam note and orange peel. The palate is fresh and mild, with pear, creamy peach, pineapple and a touch of demerara sugar. The finish brings gentle, dry sandalwood, cocoa nibs, walnut and toasted almond, then cherry jam and candied redcurrants.
