Tamnavulin – Double Cask (70cl, 40%)

Tamnavulin Double Cask is a single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It was the distillery's own first expression after years in which its malt mostly went into blends or appeared through independent bottlings. The whisky is first matured in American oak barrels, then finished in sherry casks. Tamnavulin changed hands from Invergordon Distillers to Whyte & MacKay, closed, and reopened in 2007. The nose offers chocolate mousse, thick double cream with brown sugar, stewed apples and blackberries. On the palate come Christmas pudding, chocolate brownies, yellow plum and toffee-coated barley, and the finish carries a spiced rum sweetness.
