Taurasi Riserva DOCG - Villa Raiano (13.5%)

A red wine made solely from Aglianico grown in a vineyard of about one hectare in Castelfranci, Avellino, at 450 metres above sea level. The vines are 55 years old and trained in the pergola avellinese system. Grapes are hand-harvested and carried to the cellar in small crates. After fermentation the wine ages for 24 months in 10-hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels, then 12 months in steel and a further 48 months in bottle. It shows a delicate garnet red colour with a slightly orange finish. On the nose it offers dried leaves, rosemary, mandarin and bitter orange. On the palate it is delicate on entry, with a long finish marked by savoury freshness and precise, well-balanced tannins.
