Teaninich – 16 Years Old 2009 Adelphi Selection

This is a 16 year old single malt from Teaninich, near Alness on the Cromarty Firth in the northern Highlands, selected and bottled by Adelphi Selection. It was distilled in 2009. It matured in a single refill Oloroso sherry hogshead of around 250 litres. Because the cask has held Scotch before, its sherry influence is gentler than a first fill cask, and the Oloroso adds depth alongside the distillery's own character. The bottling is a single cask at natural cask strength, with natural colour and no chill filtration. Teaninich spirit is typically grassy, oily and fruity.
