Teaninich 2010 9 Year Old – Heaven of Malts (44.9%)

This is a single malt from Teaninich, distilled on 28 June 2010 and bottled on 28 February 2020 at 9 years old. It is limited to 360 bottles at 44.9% ABV. The whisky matured in American hogsheads and then finished in Port wine hogsheads. Few distillery bottlings of Teaninich are around, as most of the spirit goes into blends. The nose is full of cask character, like a wine cellar, with dry Port notes and plenty of spice. Red wine and spice lead the palate, less sweet than a Port finish might suggest, and the modest strength keeps it creamy. The finish is medium in length, shaped by the cask.
