Teaninich – 2012/2022 9 Year Old Justino's Madeira Cask (Murray McDavid) (70cl, 46%)

This Teaninich comes from the Benchmark series by Murray McDavid. It was distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2022 at nine years old. After maturing in bourbon hogsheads, it spent its last three and a half years in first-fill Madeira barriques from Justino's. The edition draws on four casks and numbers 1,546 bottles. The Madeira finish brings dried fruit and floral notes to a honeyed, malty spirit. It is unpeated, not chill-filtered and free of added colour, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The nose offers malt and honey sweetness with fresh apple and mild nuts. The palate shows dried fruit and floral notes with a touch of butterscotch. The finish keeps a sweet cereal note and lingering baking spice.
