Teaninich – 2015 11 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish The Octave (70cl, 54.4%)

This is an 11 year old Highland single malt from Teaninich, distilled in 2015 and bottled by Duncan Taylor in its The Octave series. It was finished in a small Oloroso sherry octave, whose high ratio of wood to whisky sharpens the cask influence. Bottled from single cask 6749159 at natural strength of 54.4% in a 70cl bottle, it yielded 85 bottles. The nose combines ripe apples and pears with citrus and orange zest, sugared almonds, flowers, maple pancakes, vanilla and whipped cream. The palate is dry and fruity, with apple, dried mango, toffee, caramel and custard, then nutty sherry, sweet oak, ginger and firm wood spice. The finish is long, spicy and gently dry, with citrus peel, oak and toasted nuts.
