Tekirdag Gold Rakisi (70cl, 45%)

Tekirdag Gold is an oak-aged Turkish raki made by Mey İçki from fresh grapes and aniseed from Çeşme. It is bottled at 45% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The spirit is distilled twice in copper alembics, with careful handling of the mid-distillate, then matured for a minimum of 90 days in oak barrels. This adds a subtle wood influence and softens the anise character. Aniseed leads the nose, with dried citrus peel, straw and toasted hazelnut. The palate is silky, opening into gentle baking spices and a little sweetness, and the finish is long and smooth with spice and dried fruit. It is traditionally served with chilled water in a tall glass, which turns it milky white.
