Yeni Rakı is an anise spirit built on carefully selected fresh and sun-dried Turkish grapes distilled into suma, then redistilled a second time with natural aniseed in traditional copper stills. It is produced by Mey İçki and remains the category's global standard-bearer. The spirit rests in oak for a minimum of 30 days, allowing the grape and anise components to harmonise. Mixed with chilled water, it turns a luminous, pearlescent white, a phenomenon known as louching and the origin of its nickname, Aslan Sütü, or Lion's Milk. It is bold, aromatic and deeply cultural, with genuine balance between grape character and anise aromatics. Neither the grape nor the anise overwhelms the other, making it endlessly food-friendly.
