The English Distillery – Small Batch Gently Smoked Sherry Hogshead (70cl)

The second release of 2025 in The English Distillery's Small Batch range, this is a single malt drawn from a series of sherry hogsheads. It is peated to a slightly lower level than the distillery's usual style, and it is non-chill filtered and of natural colour. Just 1,380 bottles were filled. The nose opens with burnt sugar, rich toffee and sweet smoke, and apples come forward when water is added. The palate is rich and smooth, with smoke, smoked apple, cinnamon, vanilla, dried fruits and orange peel. The finish is long, sweet and smoky.
