The English Distillery – Wine Cask Matured Whisky (70cl)

A single malt from The English Distillery, and the first release in 2025 from its Small Batch range. It is a vatting of four second-fill wine casks, bottled in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered and natural colour. Second-fill casks give a little less colour and a very gentle malt, which is the character of this one. The nose has cocoa, praline, black cherries, citrus peel, apricots, almonds, a slight tobacco note and soft toffee, and a little water brings the fruit forward. The palate recalls dried fruit and buttery shortbread. The finish is smooth and fruity, neither short nor long.
