The Gladstone Axe American Oak Blended Malt (70cl)

The Gladstone Axe American Oak is a blended malt Scotch made entirely from malted barley and matured in American oak casks that previously held bourbon. It draws on malt whiskies from 14 different Highland and Islay distilleries. The bottle shows an embossed William Gladstone, the former British prime minister, holding an axe on the label, a nod to his reputed enjoyment of felling trees. The nose is malty biscuit, soft dry oak, caramel and vanilla. The palate brings poached apples, barley sugars and custard-cream biscuits. The finish is sweet toasted oak with honey, vanilla and a gentle peppery note.
