The Glenlivet 14 Year Old is a Speyside single malt matured mainly in bourbon and sherry casks. Part of the whisky is then finished for about six months in cognac casks, and it is bottled at 40% ABV.
The cognac finish adds raisin and dried-fruit character to the orchard fruit of the spirit.
The nose is bright, with poached pears, mandarin syrup, honey, apricot jam and cinnamon bread. On the palate there is pear, citrus marmalade, honeyed biscuits, vanilla and milk chocolate, with raisin warmth from the finish. The finish is medium, with sultana, caramel, soft nutmeg and a touch of dried orange peel.
