The Glenrothes 42 Year Old is a Speyside single malt and the distillery's first 42 year old expression, which appeared in early 2023. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle, and 1,134 bottles were produced.
Master Whisky Maker Laura Rampling chose four refill casks from 1980 for the marriage, with the aim of refining the distillery's fruity spirit without letting the wood overpower it. The colour is natural, with no added colouring.
The nose is tropical, with apricot, orange peel, mango and passionfruit alongside sugared almonds, coriander seed and a hint of cedar. The palate is sweet and velvety, with honeycomb, brown sugar and vanilla. The finish is long, with sweet aromatic notes and gentle earthy spice.
