The King of Scots is a blended Scotch whisky made by Douglas Laing, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The brand dates back to 1886. It blends Scotch grain whisky with aged malt whisky, and the house says the share of malt is higher than usual in classic blends. The casks are chosen by Douglas Laing's master blender before blending.
It is golden in colour, with a nose of toffee and spice that moves to fresher citrus and a hint of liquorice. The palate is soft and generous, with ripe fruit, caramel and vanilla, and the finish stays on vanilla, balancing sweetness and spice.
