The Macallan – 12 Year Old Double Cask (70cl)

The Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask is a Speyside single malt matured in American and European oak casks seasoned with oloroso sherry. It comes in a 70cl bottle. The American oak lets softer, gentler flavours come forward, while the European oak adds the dark fruit, sherry and wood spice that are traditional to Macallan. The nose is described as butterscotch and toffee with apple pie, caramelised orange, vanilla cream and a little oak. The palate is honeyed, with wood spice and citrus balanced by raisins and caramel. The finish is medium, warm and distinctively sweet.
