The 2025 Classic Cut is the ninth annual release in The Macallan's Classic Cut series, a single malt from Speyside bottled at high strength. It was matured in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks together with ex-bourbon casks.
It is meant to show how flavour changes with water, from rich and intense at full strength to brighter and more fruit-led once diluted.
The nose offers orange oil, barley sugar, milk chocolate, vanilla and baked apple, turning to panna cotta, grapefruit zest and citrus with water. The palate is full-bodied and the finish long, ending in sweet oak and cocoa.
