The Macallan Edition No. 4 is a limited single malt from a Speyside distillery, released as part of an annual series and sold in a 70cl bottle. It pays tribute to the new Macallan distillery, which opened in May 2018.
The whisky matured in European oak and American oak casks. Sherry-seasoned European oak casks form the base, and American oak casks seasoned with sherry add vanilla and caramel.
The nose is honey with sweet apple, orange peel, ginger and nutmeg, with wood at the end. The palate opens with nutmeg, wood spice and clove, then turns intensely sweet, with a viscous vanilla feel. The finish is long, fruity and woody-sweet.
