The Maltman Secret Islay (LPH) is a 12-year-old single malt from an Islay distillery that is not named, bottled independently by The Maltman in a 70cl bottle. After twelve years of maturation, it was finished in casks that previously held Amarone della Valpolicella.
The nose combines peat smoke and sea spray with dried red fruits, including cherry, fig and prune, plus dark chocolate and spices. The palate moves from Islay peat to sweetness from the Amarone cask, with stewed berries, liquorice and a leathery note. The finish is long, with sweet fruit, smoke and dry spice.
