The Matsui Single Malt The Peated

The Matsui The Peated is a Japanese single malt produced at the Kurayoshi distillery, which belongs to Matsui Shuzo. Peat is what sets this expression apart, giving the whisky a smoky and intense character. The nose brings peat smoke, iodine and sea notes of seaweed and salt together with ripe apple and pear, lemon zest and gentle spice. On the palate it is direct and intense, with peat, smoke, salt and spice in a rich, oily texture, and hints of leather, tobacco and dark chocolate. The finish is long, with peat, smoke and spice returning alongside a light, elegant bitterness and iodine.
