This is a single malt from an Orkney distillery, distilled in 2009 and aged for more than 12 years in a single ex-sherry butt. The cask yielded 615 bottles.
The sherry has clearly shaped the whisky without overpowering the spirit. It is described as warming and mouth-filling, with red fruits, rich sweetness and a hint of spice.
The nose combines dark berry jam on fruit cake with marzipan icing, and dark caramel over stewed figs with almond flakes. On the palate come cranberry sauce, candied raisins, manuka honey, cinnamon and candied orange peel. The finish is peppery and honeyed, with fruit, fudge sauce and baking spice.
