This is the Singleton of Glen Ord at 12 years old, a batch-distilled single malt bottled at 40% in a one litre bottle. Glen Ord joins Dufftown and Glendullan in Diageo's Singleton range, and the distillery runs its own maltings.
The colour is gold. The nose offers chocolate-coated dried oranges, cured ham, ale and a little parsley. On the palate there is a big maltiness with honeyed notes, then faint smoke, orange cake, cloves, wild thyme and liquorice.
The finish is rather long, smoky and malty, with liquorice and a honeydew sweetness in the aftertaste.
