Tobermory 26 Year Old is a single malt from the Hebridean Series, Expression 4, the 2024 edition. It began as a 15 year old that then spent a further 11 years in Oloroso sherry casks, and it is bottled at 49.2% in a 70cl bottle.
The series draws each year on an influence from the island of Mull. This edition was inspired by the white-tailed eagle, which was thought close to extinction around 1900 before conservation allowed its numbers to recover.
The nose is brown sugar with hints of strawberry, vanilla fudge, crystallised ginger and dried sultanas. The palate balances spice and sweetness, with vanilla, toffee, walnut, cinnamon, oak and roasted malt. The finish is long, with chocolate, hazelnut and a touch of undergrowth.
