Tobermory – 42 Year Old Sherry Cask

This is a 42 year old single malt from the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, which was founded in 1798 and was formerly known as Ledaig. It was matured in sherry casks and contains some of the first spirit made after the distillery reopened in 1972. The sherried profile brings a rich texture, pronounced spice and sweet fruit. The nose is full-bodied. On the palate there is an unexpected note of peat, with smoke that arrives quickly and then tapers off. The finish is smooth and long.
