This is a peated Ledaig single malt from Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is the first release in the Sinclair Series, a tribute to John Sinclair, the founder of Ledaig and Tobermory. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
It was made from heavily peated barley, matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in Rioja casks, which give it a ruby colour. The idea came from a Spanish galleon that sank in Tobermory harbour more than 400 years ago.
The nose offers Turkish delight, rose petals, candied fruit and grapes, with leather and pepper. Creamy almonds, sweet malt and blackberries lead the palate, and the finish is smoky with red fruit and sea salt.
