Togouchi 15 Year Old Japanese Blended Whisky (70cl, 43.8%)

Togouchi 15 Year Old is a Japanese blended whisky from the Chugoku Jozo distillery, near Hiroshima on Honshu. The company has made liqueurs, sake and shochu since 1918. It is bottled at 43.8% in a 70cl bottle. The blend marries Scottish malt with Canadian grain spirit, and the whisky is matured in oak casks in Japan. Part of the maturation takes place in a disused railway tunnel, where the temperature stays at 15 degrees. The colour is amber. The nose is elegant, with yellow fruit, sweet spices and citrus. The palate is sweet, with vanilla and a note of peat. The finish is long and dry, with dark chocolate and hazelnuts.
