Tormore – 14 Year Old Triple Wood 1st Fill Bourbon Quarter Cask Finish (82 Chapters to Newcastle) (70cl, 60.2%)

This is a 14 year old Tormore bottled by the independent bottler 82 Chapters to Newcastle at 60.2% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. Only 191 bottles were filled. The whisky spent its first 11 years in two bourbon barrels. The two were then combined for two years in a second fill Oloroso sherry butt that had previously held Glenrothes, before the whisky was divided between three first fill bourbon quarter casks. It shows the character of a full bourbon maturation, with some fine sherry notes at the edges. The nose offers citrus fruit and pear, with malt behind. On the palate come vanilla, apple pie, a little black pepper, hints of Oloroso and dried fruit. The finish is long, gently spicy and malty-sweet.
