This is a 14-year-old Tormore bottled by the independent bottler 82 Chapters to Newcastle, in a 70cl bottle at 57.3%. Only 85 bottles were filled.
It spent its first 11 years in two separate bourbon barrels. The two were then combined for two years in a second-fill Oloroso sherry butt that had previously held Glenrothes, before the whisky was moved into first-fill peated quarter casks. A fine note of smoke sits alongside the bourbon and sherry character.
The nose is described as blossom honey and citrus with a hint of charcoal. The palate is soft and lightly sweet, with dried pineapple, gentle smoke, cloves and a little white pepper. The finish is long and malty, with vanilla and fine spices.
