Uncle Nearest 1884 is a small batch Tennessee whiskey from Uncle Nearest Distillery in Shelbyville, bottled at 46.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It honours Nearest Green, America's first known Black master distiller, and takes its name from the year he was first documented as a master distiller in Tennessee. The mashbill is 84% corn, 8% rye and 8% barley. The whiskey is filtered through sugar maple charcoal under the Lincoln County Process and aged in new, charred American oak barrels. Each batch is curated by a descendant of Nearest Green, whose name appears on the back of the bottle. Butterscotch, caramel and baking spice lead the nose. The palate is buttery, with vanilla, dried dark fruit, cocoa, tobacco leaf and orange peel. The finish is medium-long, with butterscotch and baking spice.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
